What's happening...

May 17th, 2007- Wahey! The bike passed its MOT on tuesday, so now work can commence on pimping it for the ride. The MOT guy told me that the tickover nasties are probably an air leak on the engine side of the carb, so with luck they can be easily remedied. Lots of mods to make, thankfully none affect the bike in regards to how it will run, with the exception of fitting the little bit of extra wiring for the sat nav. As that goes straight to the battery, it should be okay...

May 10th, 2007- I've not been too good at updating this page in all honesty, but things have been moving along nicely in the meantime none the less. Whilst the online total shows only a shade over £700, the actual total is much higher- I have several cheques I need to pay in, several sponsor forms full of pledges (partially collected- I think many people are reluctant to pay anything until I complete this ridiculous challenge), and a couple of generous pledges have been made privately which I also need to collect on.

The bike is still sans MOT- getting it running almost properly has taken me longer than anticipated- it still has a tendency to stall for no apparent reason on tickover, but starts again on the button regardless. I'll be taking it for an MOT test next week, and all things being equal, it should pass without a problem - it may require a little brake adjustment, or the headlight might need realigning, but other than that, it's all in full running order.

I've also been sorting the route out - again. I decided that even the little bit of dual carriageway I was intending to use was too much, and have been trying to cut it down even further. Much of the new route keeps me even closer to the coast, which is no bad thing. What have been simply different coloured lines in a road atlas up to now, are taking on new significance as the off comes ever closer - what have I let myself in for, I wonder?

February 15th, 2007- After a hiccup by my hosting company, causing them to believe the site wasn't paid up (it was!), they took my site off the server sometime during Friday or Saturday. A few stern words later and I was able to upload it all again, and thankfully all is well once more. Hopefully I didn't miss any important emails during the downtime- the email for this address is routed via the server also. Looks like I may have to let a few people know about the downtime- just in case!

February 8th, 2007- Some good news in in the shape of Bodyflight Ltd. of Bedford. They have pledged another £1000 if I can hit the £2000 mark, so this is a very real target to aim for. Go and sponsor me now- you know it makes sense!

January 26th, 2007- Site launched! At last, after all the little fiddly bits have been er, fiddled, I can finally get this site up on the net. Now I can really start spreading the word with gusto!
